A GROUP of volunteers is set to gather to maintain the gardens of the home of famed author Robert Louis Stevenson.
Residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves on Saturday, May 18, and help maintain Skerryvore and to care for a key part of Westbourne’s historical heritage.
Volunteers work hard to maintain the area and it provides a place of tranquillity and beauty for people to enjoy.
The Friends of Skerryvore was founded by Revd Christopher Colledge, with the day on May 18 being overseen by Michael Kirpatrick.
On Wednesday, May 8, Revd Colledge received an MBE from Prince William at an investiture at Windsor Castle.
He told the prince of Skerryvore and the dedication of volunteers to maintain it.
For those wishing to volunteer, some tools are provided but they are asked to bring any that can be used to cut back overgrowth and to remove weeds.
Volunteers should also bring their own refreshments and anything else they need for the day.
The group will be in the gardens between 9.30am and midday on Saturday, May 18.
