AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a retired woman who was found dead in her home after a neighbour raised concerns for her welfare.

Dorothy Kay Foster, 75, was confirmed dead at the scene after the fire service gained entry to her house in Bournemouth.

Assistant coroner for Dorset, Richard Middleton, opened the inquest into her death at Bournemouth Town Hall on April 25.

Coroner’s officer, Philippa Morgan, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that Dorothy was a single lady and a retired cleaner.

She was born in Luton but was living at an address in Churchill Road in Bournemouth at the time of her death.

On January 19 the fire and ambulance service entered Dorothy’s home after a neighbour raised concerns she had not seen her.

Dorothy was found unresponsive.

A post-mortem examination conducted by Dr Albadry found Dorothy’s preliminary cause of death to be severe respiratory depression as a result of a drug overdose.

Mr Middleton adjourned the full inquest into her death until November 28 at 10am.
