DURDLE Door has been named in the top ten most bucket-listed landmarks in the UK in a recent study.

The popular tourist spot near Luworth ranked as the seventh most popular bucket list landmark in the UK - places to see before you die - finishing behind the likes of Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.

The list was compiled by CompareTheMarket's life insurance team by analysing Instagram hashtags and Google searches of UK landmarks.

Durdle Door was searched 246,000 times on Google and had 290,000 hashtags on Instagram.

Big Ben was the most bucket-listed destination in the UK, with Buckingham Palace, Stonehenge and Windsor Castle finishing second, third and fourth respectively.

Scotland's two most famous Lochs, Ness and Lomond, came fifth and sixth, just above Dorset's famous arch.

It comes after Durdle Door was recently named the 13th most beautiful spot in the UK last month.

Worldwide, the most bucket-listed landmark was the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Eiffel Tower in Paris, Times Square in New York, Niagra Falls in New York state and the Taj Mahal in India made up the global top five.
