THERE may be a sense of deja vu at Dorset’s audit and scrutiny committee on Thursday.

Distinct echoes of the 2011 school buses crisis can be found in the current school meals fiasco.

The shortcomings of contractor Chartwells are well documented.

But scrutiny members under the watchful eye of Cllr Trevor Jones now want to know what failures, if any, lie at the door of County Hall in letting and monitoring the contract.

Councillors will want to establish, three years on, exactly what was learned from the 2011 debacle (which was also ‘called to account’) and what wasn’t learned.

And why.
