A SURVEY has just concluded that dealing with social care provision for elderly parents or other relatives is one of the most stressful experiences, more so than divorce or moving home.

That was surely the case for those who had to arrange for their loved ones to be moved from the Nightingale care home, some with just a few hours’ notice. If this was distressing for the family members, how much more so for the bewildered residents who have had their world turned upside down.

The way this episode has been handled has been a disgrace. It has no place in the care system.
