ANOTHER day, another illustration of the straitened times in which we live.
Today it is Christchurch police station and the surrounding piece of (very valuable) real estate which the police and Dorset and Christchurch councils want to sell.
Police Commissioner Martyn Underhill says he can’t guarantee a station in the borough in future and Chief Constable, Debbie Simpson, talks very carefully of “continued provision...to meet the operational needs of the town.”
Any land sale will probably make good sense. A plan for no police station in a town of 55,000 people will not.
