POOLE beach authorities say that the waiting list for beach huts is an average of 10 years and the list is now closed.

We must support these wind farms

IN the same week we read that local MPs are opposing the building of the Navitus Bay wind farm, we read of plans for exploratory drilling for oil on the Dorset coast. Will the MPs be objecting to this? Sadly I doubt it. Unfortunately they are too short-sighted to realise that we cannot continue our profligate use of fossil fuels without dire consequences.

Why no action over our lovely church?

IT is now well over 13 months since, after endless correspondence with Wessex Trust, owner of the former United Reformed Church and adjoining manse at Throop, they declared their intentions that the church would be occupied by the Bournemouth International Church under a full repairing and insuring lease by Christmas – that being Christmas 2010.

IN response to S Chilcott’s letter (February 9) regarding retirement dates, I too was quite devastated not only to learn that my retirement is to be five years later than I expected, but also that I do not get my concessionary travel pass until the year of my 66th birthday.
