Local authorities are now seriously reviewing their spending, priorities and resources, to establish what is really important for their customers. At a time when Bournemouth council is budgeting for large losses, my personal plea is that the council will not now needlessly waste taxpayers’ money and destroy one of the best views from a building on the South Coast. Bournemouth council must have researched and consulted extensively before approving plans for the Imax building – the opportunity for dissent was then, not years after the multi-million pound building was constructed. Imax cinemas thrive all over the world, so it should not be difficult for the council or Bournemouth’s new leader to succeed as a 3D champion and create what should be a considerable asset to Bournemouth within the Imax building. I suggest additionally opening some exciting restaurants and having some displays from the Tate Modern there would re-vitalise this under used building. It is easy to destroy but far better to utilise, attract visitors and boost the local economy.
