The fact that police across Dorset have picked up 2,364 driving offences in the first six weeks of a crack-down on drivers begs the question as to just how many have not been picked up (Daily Echo, March 18).
Every day I spot at least half a dozen drivers breaking the law in the course of the short journey from home to Canford Cliffs.
A couple of weeks ago I observed a driver turning his car from Queen’s Road into Poole Road – hands on the wheel either side of a large dog seated on his lap!
He was closely followed by a woman driving an estate car with three young children in the back – none of whom were wearing seatbelts, or even seated for that matter.
I’m willing to bet that for every driver picked up by the police at least 10 times as many get away with it.
