Badge didn’t come without a battle

I read with slight surprise the letter from your reader with regard to disabled parking bays (Have Your Say, March 17).

I have multiple sclerosis.

From the moment I was diagnosed I have had no support, only that which I have traced myself.

To be honest I feel it has been a fight all the way to get any recognition for my illness.

I do not use sticks or a wheelchair. Your reader would possibly look at me and think there is nothing much wrong with me. But, I have a blue badge.

I do not abuse my badge. I do not run, skip or jump.

I want to maintain my indepen-dence. If it means that once every week or so I use a disabled parking space then I will.

Doctors do not authorise the issue of badges easily. I know as mine was rejected this year and I had to appeal. After an emotional month and being told that the doctor did not know me, as I was fairly new to the area, I was finally allowed to have one. So as I say, it’s a fight all the way.

Hi , I also have MS ,just wondered how far can you walk and why do you need a wide space ?

My gripe is about the need to use a wide space , if you are lucky enough not to have to use a wheelchair , then please use a normal space .
