Rudeness marred day at the seaside

I AM a young carer for my mother, who uses a manual and electric wheelchair.

As we live in North Dorset we decided to go to Poole and Bournemouth via bus.

After a lovely day walking along the seafront (using the electric wheelchair), we headed back. The bus driver was very polite and accommodating.

On boarding, two men kindly moved their suitcases for us.

Then a lady asked me if we were allowed on the bus with the wheelchair and I told her that we have never had any problems before. She got more irate saying it wasn’t a wheelchair and I shouldn’t be on the bus.

She was at one point very rude.

It really hurt me to think that there are people in the public like this.

The two men smiled at me and one told the lady: “I think that you are being very rude. You should be glad that you are able to walk.” She told him to mind his own business. There is no reason to speak to anyone like that.

We would like to thank the two gentlemen for being so kind and sticking up for us.

There are some deeply unpleasant people out there. That woman should be ashamed.

Maybe the woman should have put her glasses on or have her eyes tested so she could read the signes that say for wheel chair users at the seats at the front of the bus .But some people just like to moan as the do not have a life.Ihope your next day out will be more enjoyable.
