You cannot be serious over Imax!

I had a John McEnroe moment when I read Brian Jenner’s vitriolic outburst (Have Your Say, March 9) about the plans for the Imax building.

Amazingly, he wants to keep the eyesore, and has suggested that business in the most hated building in England is flourishing.

Was I the only one reading the letter to wonder whether all this is a wind-up?

No, Brian, read the writing on the wall: it says “demolition”.

He went on to say that the most popular decision in years is a political gesture and the consultation is a “sham”

Just go to bournemouth.gov.uk/ waterfront.

If it’s a gesture he wants, he can have one, though I’m too much of a gentleman to say what it might be here…

Cllr Stephen MacLoughlin, leader, Bournemouth Council

I am amazed that the arrogant, patronising & childish nature of this letter has raised so little comment. It is completely unprofessional, especially the last paragraph which I had to read several times because I could not believe my eyes. If any Council Officer had written such a letter to a member of the public they would have been severely reprimanded, yet seemingly it is acceptable for the leader of the Council to be publicly offensive. I suppose he should at least be commended for constantly reminding us of his true colours before election time, lest any voters should be blinded by the IMAX vote gathering smoke screen.
