I WAS very dismayed to hear recently that the outdoor fitness gym equipment that was to go on Branksome Rec has been postponed.

Branksome Rec Action Group, who oppose Poole Town FC’s proposals to develop the rec, have put in an application for it to be classified as a town green and that, apparently, puts a stop to putting in the outdoor gym equipment.

This is the first time ever, as far as I know, that Poole council have determine to actually put some sports facilities on the rec, and it all grinds to a bureaucratic standstill.

As for Branksome Rec so called "Action Group", can you not take on Poole Town on the arguments against, without having to resort to devious legal tactics ?

Whether the rec is called a town green, a recreation ground, or a green open space, I can’t for the life of me see why the name of the ground should affect putting in green gym exercise equipment.

Or is council saying that there is some ancient medieval law: “Thou shalt not work out on ye olde village green”?

Perhaps someone in council would like to explain why the village green application has ended up stopping the green gym. And members of BRAG – can you not accept the rec is not an extension of your front gardens, nor is it a green.
