I was amused to read Dan Dunkley-Streader’s letter (Have Your Say, July 6) regarding Bournemouth University’s main campus being located, not in Bournemouth, but in Poole.
I am sure the town of Poole is more than happy to provide a base for the university, but this name versus location debate happens elsewhere in the area, with Bournemouth Airport being located in Christchurch as another example.
On similar theme, Mark Smith, Bournemouth’s head of tourism, was talking up the surf reef project on Radio 5 Live the other morning and finished up by claiming that the resort aims to be the number one water sport location in the UK, offering up to 40-plus waterborne activities.
Watch out Poole – it looks as though Bournemouth is about to steal your thunder once again!
