I am getting a little tired of reading letters from vice-chairmen, councillors etc trying to pat the residents of Branksome on the head while telling them they are silly to object to the new football ground on the rec (Have your Say).

Yes it would be a great thing if there were the space for it!

But the fact is that, despite all the pros, the cons far outweigh them.

I wonder for example just how many supporters of the stadium actually live next to or near the rec?

None, I would wager.

There is not the space for parking, nor can the roads handle the great traffic increase.

And we certainly do not need councillors and chairmen treating us like idiots and patronising us with the promise of a bright future for the area.

It will not work and will be a very large nail in the coffin of the rec if it goes ahead, especially at a time when children’s play parks are also being bulldozed for development.

There is one driving force behind this project, and it isn’t the welfare of the residents of Branksome; it is plain and simple greed.

And for the residents of Branksome to be walked over and swept aside like this is disgusting.

Stop patronising us and open your eyes, people!

And I know that games are scheduled to end by 9pm but it is not practical! Imagine living across the road from this ridiculous development.

This cannot go ahead for so many obvious reasons. I cannot believe, to be honest, that it has come this far. I’m sure house prices will be affected – who wants to move into a house a stone’s throw from a football ground in such a cramped area?

The facilities it would bring would benefit the area – I agree on that point, but it is just not practical.

We do not have the room!
