IT saddened me to read the letter headed I Can’t be as brave as Jade (March 3).

The writer appears to have given up all hope before even a diagnosis has been made.

Learning that you have cancer is frightening and the treatment can be unpleasant, as are many things that life throws at us.

What it is not is a guarantee of a slow and painful death.

Having had cancer twice has taught me to live life to the full and to concentrate on what is important to me rather than worrying about what might be.

I, and many thousands of others, are living proof that there is life after cancer.
