As reported in the Echo, the saga of Boscombe Spa and the surf reef continues with yet more spiralling costs and even less accountability.

I totally agree with Cllr Radcliffe that enough is enough and those responsible – Cllr Beverley Dunlop and leisure services director Roger Brown, should resign immediately. All we hear from Cllr Dunlop is how great it will be for Boscombe when it is finished, whatever it costs, but in truth the escalations in costs will mean that there will be a lot less money to tackle the real problems that will hold back any regeneration of Boscombe, and they are not to be found on the seafront.

To pick up just two points from the current report, may I ask who agreed to pay contractors ASR £100,000 to return to New Zealand and come back this spring to finish a job which they were contracted to complete last December?

Why did Mr Brown not include £757,000 costs in the estimates to refurbish the Overstrand building?

It is time for the council to come clean and advise us exactly what they expect the final costs of the project are going to be.

We started at £8.4 million, we are now at £11.8 million.

Where is this additional money to come from? Probably from a project to be cancelled in your area, wherever you live in Bournemouth.
