Goodness gracious! A great ball of fire

WITH reference to the article on November 25 (Mystery over lights in the sky), my 13-year-old son Charlie and myself were standing outside at Salterns Marina when I told my son to look up at what I thought was a hot air balloon.

As we watched I thought it was unlikely as you don’t see balloons flying at night and in slightly windy weather.

There was also quite a cluster of clouds.

We were looking south-east and presumed it was a meteorite, maybe out towards the English Channel.

Disagree? Have your say below or send us a letter for publication using the link on the right

It was like an orange ball of fire which changed shape slightly from a balloon to spherical and eventually decreased in size until it totally disappeared.

The time was approximately 6pm and it was visible for about one minute.

I would say it was around 10 times the size of the brightest star. I have to say I have never seen anything like that before.
