IT appears to me that Cllr Pat Oakley is making an excuse for failure. The posted photographs appear to show a large majority of folk want to dispose of their rubbish, having tied it up in a carrier bag and taken it to the bins, but find the bins already full to overflowing. Therefore, the problem must be they are not emptied often enough.

Why not simply have a team on standby callout when such volumes of visitors are projected. The same principle as road gritting in winter. This would ensure they were emptied and could be properly closed to prevent the seagulls scattering debris over a bigger area.

You are always going to get rubbish left on the beach because it has become a way of life for those without morals or conscience to consider anything other than themselves. Are there not cameras along the front and beach that could be used to find and prosecute such folk? A number of well-publicised cases might help on that count.

The council should also consider at least three park and ride bases to help alleviate traffic congestion all year round as well as event occasions. This may have spin-off benefits such as visitors spending more in the local areas instead of bringing everything with them.

More eating establishments along the entire front would help by reducing queues at existing outlets, which may be why so many bring everything with them.

Is it right that local residents returning from the Midlands should be stuck in traffic taking over an hour to travel from the end of the motorway to Ferndown? Because very little has been done to the infrastructure to keep pace with the ever increasing volumes of traffic over the last 50 years.
