I AM in agreement with John Allistone regarding the extension of the 20mph speed zones throughout the borough of Poole.
Urban speeding is a problem and whilst I agree with the reasoning behind extending the zones, the simple fact is they are ignored where we have them already (as is the general 30mph urban speed limit) and are not policed so the effort and expense of the extension seems pointless.
Lindsay Road with a 30mph limit is like a racetrack, except when it is clogged with traffic, and I am sure many of the roads around the conurbation are the same, so if these roads rarely have deterrents what hope is there for all the side roads with their 20mph limit?
It is like Poole bus station, which has a no smoking policy and where no action is ever taken, with the consequence it is completely ignored and all the regular announcements have no effect. I fear it will be the same with the lower speed limit.
