AS a regular (once or twice a day) customer of the Christchurch Road Sainsbury's local store that was headlined in your newspaper on Wednesday (March 28), I feel that I should give an alternative view on your news article.

The staff in " my " Sainsbury local are the most helpful, friendly staff that you could hope to meet. Unfortunately, as I have witnessed on numerous occasions, they are plagued by shoplifters.

I have seen members of staff confront shoplifters, they caught in the act, whereupon the staff members are threatened, laughed at, and even spat at.

If the staff members used force they would be arrested, if they chased the shoplifters out of the shop they run the risk of being set upon by the shoplifters' friends outside.

So what other choice do they have, when meat, cheese etc is stolen, but to put up a notice to highlight the problems with shoplifters in the area? Possibly hoping that somebody somewhere would help e.g. police, local community or even Sainsbury's with some kind of security.
