THE spring edition of Bournemouth council's BH Life has arrived! Does it bring with it fresh objectivity about the Wessex Fields proposals? It seems not.

In a full-page plug for the scheme, Cllr Mike Greene yet again suggests that congestion can be dealt with by bringing huge amounts of extra cars onto local roads, whilst also recycling the absurd idea that the proposals will encourage public transport, cycling and walking.

The article conveniently forgets to mention that very large numbers of local residents have written in to object to the proposals – including some staff at the h-Hospital – whilst, conversely, very few have given their support. In addition, many consultees have objected/expressed serious reservations, including the Environment Agency, Natural England, Wessex Water, Historic England, Dorset Wildlife Trust etc.

In a final risible column, the article claims the proposal "will address key issues raised by some residents", i.e. green belt, air quality and street lighting. How the planning application could do this, given that it was submitted prior to people sending in their comments, is not explained.
