"BRING home the BSO" said Patricia Quinn recently. Well Patricia they did come "home" to the museum (the Pavilion) last Saturday and where were all the people from Bournemouth? A terrific concert but not sold out by any means.
Use it or lose it they say, and if we want to retain our main source of culture we must support it.
I believe the afternoon concerts are well attended, which says something about the reputation of Bournemouth in the evening. Turning Bournemouth into a vibrant town is commendable but it should be also be inclusive, which I believe is the current expression. The car parks were full but of course we have the problem of having to pay for two sessions which makes an expensive evening.
So coming home isn't really an option, especially when you have the Lighthouse at Poole with good acoustics, as John Lill said when he performed there many years ago.
