RECENTLY I attended my mother's funeral and experienced first-hand the difficulties faced by funeral directors these days.
Our limousine, following the hearse, struggled to cross a roundabout without getting separated and as we exited I heard a horn blasting.
I commented on it and the driver said that it was now a common occurrence to be hooted at!
This contrasted greatly with one older gentleman who as we passed, paused and gave a slight doff of his hat.
I know people are always in a rush, but I would implore them to show some respect for funeral processions which is often just a hearse and one car.
Allow them to keep together at junctions and roundabouts, don't overtake, turn down car radios, if working or walking on pavements just pause for a moment out of respect.
Respect the deceased, the mourners and also the drivers who do their utmost to maintain the tradition of keeping the procession together.
Many do, some don't but I know I will.
