RICHARD Scutt of Broadstone was very articulate in his letter (Echo, June 1).

Particularly the last two paragraphs. The writing is on the wall. When the Unitary Authority kicks in there will no jobs for Poole council representatives. The Civic Centre site will be turned into flats (probably social housing) and they will all retire feeling they have done a good job.

As far as the loo debate is concerned - it is a red herring.

In my lifetime an indoor loo was a luxury. I am 72 so we have come on a pace.

However, conveniences for visitors to our wonderful coastline is a necessity and I am sure that the tourists would gladly pay for the “privilege”.

You take your rubbish home and enjoy the beaches and clean air of Poole and the Jurassic Coast, but also make it a marvellous and uplifting experience.

In the Echo on the same day, the paper stated that Bournemouth was one of the favourite staycation destinations. Can we get rid of the journalese and clean up the town and the lavatories?

The Bath Chair image has gone. In some ways it is still there. In the minds of people who fly off to the Maldives and get bitten by mosquitoes.
