EVERYBODY seems to be missing the point about the closure of some of Poole’s public toilets. There’s no money for the toilets.
The council does not have to legally provide toilets and it is clear they are fighting to save money as part of reduced funding from central government.
The way ahead is clear. As an example, Baiter’s toilets could be opened (and even expanded) by paid private initiative/sponsorship.
Thirty pence a visit is what London train stations charge and that funds the costs of materials and having the facilities staffed.
The company then pays rates to the council and any profits go to that company. The council could even set-up its own private company.
