IN all my years of reading the Echo (nearly 50) I cannot recall an issue causing so much objection as the closure of the public toilets in Poole.
Even the imposition of car parking charges for the beach area which was opposed by a massive petition failed to reach the volume of letters that have been published in the Echo over the past few weeks.
I cannot believe that the council members involved can continue to keep their heads in the sand much longer, as they are already being questioned over their decision.
Sometimes in life it is better to admit that a mistake has been made and, in this case, to reverse the decision taken before any more of the toilet buildings are demolished.
They would not lose what face they still have and should convene an early council meeting to reverse the policy.
