SO Bournemouth council appears to blame the deterioration of the shared space at Horseshoe Common (Echo, April 4) to the tune of £142k squarely on the bus traffic in that area.

Nothing to do with the standard of work to possibly save a pound or two?

This is almost admitted in the article where it states that the block paving at that location would be removed and re-used elsewhere in the town where traffic is lighter.

Looking at this another way, how many bus companies and drivers of two and four-wheeled vehicles, both local and holidaymaker, could apportion blame for some necessary repairs to their vehicle of choice on the poor state of the roads in and around Bournemouth?

Who would they complain to given that they seem to have a council who seem to “see no evil, hear no evil” and seem to do very little constructive to improve things?

Do we always have to listen to complaints of lack of central government funding?

If the council tries to find redress for the cost, it will be no surprise as they seem to need the money to pay council executive salaries, and more recently, the £394k paid to a redundant council chief?

Answers/excuses from the council please on the back of a postage stamp!
