OF all that has been said and is being said on Brexit, the very height of extraordinary futility is surely the fact that that we are going to leave the Single Market - one single market with zero border tariffs along with common regulatory documentation throughout the EU - only to now spend who knows how many decades trying to re-forge all but equivalent “trading agreements” with the EU we have just left.

As also I think it needs to be made far clearer with no shades of ambiguity on the matter of the PM’s declaration that we will leave the Single Market (and the Customs Union which is much the same) that the hard fact is the UK has no choice.

Europe is founded on and in four freedoms: free movement of people, goods, services, and capital. We can’t have one without the other. Countries around the world cannot just say we’ll trade on best terms with the EU thank you very much but we don’t want your people. And no less the UK, as has been said repeatedly, cannot cherry pick the parts of the EU we might like.

The UK is clearly heading for mass disaster. We might just as well seek to re-run the second world war again.

A mass referendum run on slogans along with blaring propaganda has ended up trumping every argument on the planet on why leaving the EU is clearly going to be enormously damaging to our country and our people and a major threat to the EU itself.
