I WAS delighted and relieved to learn that Bournemouth council will be increasing council tax by the maximum amount allowed.
Individually this won’t actually cost residents very much, but overall it will make a huge difference.
In my view the sooner we all realise that the level of service we have all come to expect cannot be sustained unless council tax increases, the better.
We all need to stop living in la-la land and accept the council cannot continue to deliver services that we don’t pay a realistic amount for.
No doubt this rise will cause a lot of criticism from those who either don’t like the current council or don’t understand the current financial situation, but unless they want services to disappear this is the only way.
