I AGREE with Mr E Neale regarding the amount of litter on our streets and it seems to be getting worse. Also of increasing concern is the amount of larger items being ‘flytipped’ on our streets.
My concern regarding this led me last year to volunteer with the council’s ‘litter squad’ and the ‘Dorset Devils’, a voluntary sector litter action group. I carry out litter picks regularly in the area of Moordown where I live and I feel that I am doing something positive to deal with this problem.
I would respectfully suggest that Mr Neale might like to get involved. All the necessary equipment is provided by the council.
The councils are so short of funding that they are not able to clean all the streets regularly, as I am sure they would like to do. But equally, if people showed some thoughtfulness, much of the litter would not be discarded in the first place.
