I WAS interested to read Mr Pester’s recent observations about the future of AFC Bournemouth (Daily Echo, December 20).
The council is immensely proud of the achievements of the football club and the wider recognition and investment it brings to the town.
I hope Mr Pester won’t find it too surprising to learn that the council has been working closely with the club for some time to help them fulfil their stadium ambitions.
Whilst King’s Park may appear the obvious solution to some, there are a number of legal, planning and important commercial reasons why a major redevelopment there is not readily achievable.
Every other option is being considered and we will continue to work with the club to try to find a realistic solution for the long-term.
CLLR JOHN BEESLEY
Leader of Bournemouth council, Bournemouth Town Hall
