HARDLY a surprise that Mr Pearl and his company are playing hard ball with AFC Bournemouth when they see published the revenue that the club receives from the Premier League.
However, here is an opportunity for Bournemouth council to get something right for a change.
King’s Park is the best and probably the only site location that could support a football stadium for 20-25,000 people.
It is possible to park 360 degrees around the park whereas Iford or Wessex Fields would make parking almost impossible.
As I walk to the Vitality Stadium from Harewood Avenue on match days there is a vast track of land between the pathway and the athletics stadium which appears to be doing nothing other than to provide a facility for people to empty their dogs.
This would make an ideal location for a new stadium and the existing site could be given over for open space to compensate for the loss, which should please Mr Pearl.
To assist with the increased traffic that a bigger stadium would generate, a park and ride scheme could be put in place.
The alternatives suggested in the Echo report of December 10 are total non starters.
Come on, Bournemouth council, get stuck in and help.
