WHILE the proposals for improved facilities at Bournemouth Hospital are obviously welcomed these should not be introduced with a complete disregard to the local environment.

The hospital already has over 300 more car parking spaces than was claimed was sustainable AFTER major alterations to the current highway but this has not been undertaken, contributing to the increase in congestion which is well documented.

The long overdue access to Wessex Way is now being advocated by Cllr Beesley and his cronies, who a few years ago spent considerable time and money opposing a very similar scheme, but the current proposal is that they will only construct the southbound access/egress.

This will be highly dangerous since vehicles wanting to go north and east will queue on the slip road back onto the dual carriageway, while trying to negotiate the already congested Cooper Dean roundabout.

I hope that common sense will prevail and that no further expansion will be permitted until the complete interchange is constructed, which hopefully will go somewhere toward mitigating the inevitable increase in traffic that will be generated before traffic grinds to a complete standstill.

This area has been blighted for many years with traffic and parking and with the suggestion that people will have to commute from all over Dorset adding to the problems, without improvements to the relevant infrastructure, is not acceptable.
