WITH regard to the recent exposure of Bournemouth Borough Councillors Norman Decent and David Kelsey, I would like it to go on record that Bournemouth’s Liberal Democrats demand the resignation of both these councillors without delay.

Both councillors should then put themselves forward for re-election in order that the voters in their wards might have their say.

While their actions do not automatically disqualify them from office, it is essential that our elected representatives are seen to act with the utmost integrity, particularly when they are, in part, responsible for setting the very tax that each of them failed to pay on time.

Before anybody accuses me of seeking short-term political gain from this incident let me point out that parties other than mine are far more likely to gain from any by-elections in their wards. This is about accountability.
