MY 82-year-old husband fell outside our house on a concrete path on Friday night, November 18, at 9.10pm.

We waited two hours for an ambulance. I told them his age, the fact he has Alzheimer’s, was complaining of pain in his hip and groin, and was shivering despite the fact he was covered in blankets.

Eventually a lovely lady called Chris realised the seriousness of the situation and said an ambulance would be with us in 10 minutes.

The ambulance technicians that responded to the call were from Swanage, having been at Poole Hospital. They were very caring and kind, and were appalled by the length of time we had waited.

My husband is now in Poole Hospital, after requiring surgery, and is being very well cared for by the attentive staff on Ward B3.
