VERONICA Willetts’s tirade (Echo, November 16) against the dangers she perceives are presented by the shared space traffic system at Horseshoe Common is understandable.

It is a fact that a great many people wholeheartedly agree with her views.

There is, in my opinion, a solution to the problem.

I maintain that the numbers of traumatic incidents would be substantially reduced if all motorists obeyed these three golden rules:

  • Rule 1: Drive slowly and carefully
  • Rule 2: Always give way to pedestrians
  • Rule 3: Always give way to vehicles approaching from the right
