IT’S been an interesting few days for me.

My daughter in hospital, cared for by amazing staff most of whom were from different countries than the UK, and then we’ve been out a couple of times and been served by hardworking Polish, Slovakian and Romanian people.

My father-in-law was a Pole and fought with the British Army and lost a limb. He fought for liberty and freedom.

All the Polish I know are Anglophiles, they work very hard, often putting us to shame, they really care for their families and make an enormous contribution to our society.

My mother-in-law’s care home was staffed by Polish, Spanish and South African nurses and it is certainly the case that healthcare, the hospitality industry, nursing homes, etc are all dependent on our European friends and those from the wider world.

So perhaps someone wiser than me can tell me who will care for the old, who will run our hospitals, our hotels, etc when these hardworking contributors to our economy no longer feel welcome?

No longer feel welcome because they are insulted by bigots who know nothing... nothing at all.

We will reap the harvest if we no longer make people welcome and there is no-one else to do the work is there. We all need to value who and what we have and be kind and courteous.

I went to church yesterday and the sermon was on the Good Samaritan... one of the great Biblical lessons as to how to treat our fellow men.

The only country I want back is a caring, welcoming and compassionate place, not the mayhem conjured up by the gutter press and their political cronies... disgraceful, rotten examples of how a perverted press can influence so many.

A return to “loving your neighbour as yourself” is long overdue.

The path of racism and xenophobia is the road to ruin!
