JO COX MP saw good in others at a time when insularity, insecurity and incivility are too frequently to the fore in national life.
In-fighting mars the parties of government and of the opposition. Other politicians strive single-mindedly to alienate us from fellow Europeans making a net contribution to this country.
Jo Cox MP sought to help those fleeing conflict in Syria, a country where deaths as savage as her own are commonplace.
Her death can be a Road to Damascus moment when we refocus on how much we have in common with others rather than what divides us.
We can pull together rather than push away.
We can do better. She deserved better.
