I AGREE with Harry Arter that AFCB need to improve and hope that they can.

Year on year after Eddie’s return they have managed to improve on their exploits from the previous season.

My dad first took me to Dean Court around 1960 and I had always viewed AFCB as a small club plying their trade in the lower leagues.

To see them in the top flight was not something I ever expected to see so, along with many others I suspect, I will always be grateful for the recent achievements of all at AFCB.

Can they survive a second season?

Last season they responded admirably to the early season misfortune of several long term injuries but later in the season I think they were helped by some good fortune.

They were fortunate to meet Chelsea and Manchester United when those teams were not quite firing as they should, fortunate too that Aston Villa fell away and were clearly going to take one of the relegation slots.

Fortunate as well that Norwich declined to spend money in the transfer window and that the two North Eastern clubs were very late in the season in appointing experienced managers to stave off relegation.

The worry is that rarely could AFCB trouble a quality side when that side was on its game and too many soft goals and penalties were conceded.

Can AFCB improve again?

Let’s hope so, good luck to all at AFCB, may they amaze us yet again.
