THERE have been many letters published regarding the EU vote, and so far I have neither read nor heard anything in the media to convince me to support us staying in the EU.

The blatant scare stories coming from Downing Street totally demean the British people’s ability to think for themselves and also attempt to weaken our resolve to manage our own affairs.

It is also amazing that identical speeches have been prepared and delivered by Obama and the Japanese Premier to support these scare tactics.

Of course, it is in the interests of the unelected diktats in the EU to dissuade the UK from leaving as Brexit would trigger many EU countries into having their own referenda.

This has been confirmed recently by the EU parliament chief, Martin Schulz, as he warned of a possible “implosion of the EU” due to underestimated Eurosceptic movements in member states, including the Netherlands, France and the Czech Republic.

The euro crisis has not been resolved, and high unemployment rates in Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy continue to be alarming. It is an interesting fact that the lowest unemployment figures are to be found in Switzerland and Norway, who are not EU members.

In the distant past, the British Isles were part of the mainland of Europe, and I believe the fact we are no longer tells me we should not be part of an EU experiment initiated by the first member states, whose clear objective is to have a federal state of Europe and all that entails.

Rule Britannia!
