WITH reference to Christine Peters’ letter of May 5, this is far from being a ‘litter scam’ but an attempt at stopping the thousands of deaths and millions of pounds of damage caused by carelessly discarded cigarettes.
People trying to stop this nasty habit should be applauded, not criticised.
If you don’t want a fine for littering, don’t do it!
The risk of a fine has considerably reduced the dog mess on pavements and parks etc.
My only regret is it was not extended to cat owners.
