LAST week I was held up in traffic at the traffic lights by the entrance to Bournemouth Airport.
During this time, two medium-sized passenger planes taxied and turned in the area that adjoins the proposed recreation area for Parkfield Free School.
The residual unburnt fuel from the jet exhausts was evident by the smell that gently pervaded the air around the traffic, but I had chosen to be there, and although this was unpleasant, the long term effect would be negligible and a price we accept for having a major airport close to a tourist area.
The headteacher of the proposed school announced his intention to retire, and three governors all resigned, after a visit to the site.
Maybe they exercised their right to choose the environment they work in or govern and find it lacking.
In the future our children will not have this choice as the school will be designated as their education provision for the area during the most developmental period of their lives.
