THE EU debate both on these pages and nationally is starting to become a little like Groundhog Day, with the same old people putting forward the same old arguments (myself included).
I would therefore like to change the thrust of the debate a little and allow people to consider more fully the case for Brexit.
We have heard from academics, scientists, EU leaders and the president of the USA about why we should stay in the EU. Let me ask the following.
Where are the world leaders telling us “Don’t worry. It’ll be fine if you leave the EU, We’ll be straight round to Downing Street to sign up a trade deal with you”?
Where are the global organisations telling us, “Brexit will be a fantastic thing. We will relocate our factories and offices to the UK straight away if you leave the EU”?
Where are the scientists and academics telling us “Brexit will offer a fantastic opportunity for research and development”?
In fact, is there anybody outside these islands shouting out for Brexit? If so, who and why should we listen to them?
