A RESIDENT of Rossmore Road in Poole recently penned a letter to the Letters page, concerned about the speed limit not being adhered to in the recently introduced 20 mph limit.
With my ward colleagues Lindsay and Graham Wilson, we have worked with the residents of Rossmore, Rosemary and Cynthia Roads who, concerned about speeds in our residential area, requested that these roads be included in the Newtown 20 mph zone.
Recent speed surveys have demonstrated that overall speeds in these roads are reducing.
The resident asked when will the speed limits be monitored properly.
We are in the process of setting up a Speed Watch Team and are currently looking for Newtown residents to volunteer.
Your Newtown councillors, Graham, Lindsay and Malcolm, welcome any resident within the ward to contact us via e mail or telephone to register your interest in this new team.
After training they will be able to use the relevant equipment and will assist us in making Newtown a safer place.
MALCOLM FARRELL
Councillor, Newtown Ward Poole Borough Council
