SINCE the local elections of last May I have been wondering what’s happened to the councillors the voters in my ward elected.

What have they achieved on my behalf? How have they helped to improve life in my area? I’ve not heard a word from them.

No leaflets or fliers have appeared through my door to tell me what they’ve been up to since they won their seats.

When I stood for election in Kinson South, many people told me the very same thing about their councillors and, it seems, the picture is the same in most areas of Bournemouth.

I wonder if voters would like to ask themselves “when was the last time I heard from my councillors?” I suspect it was the last time they need our votes.

Next time a candidate who has already been in office comes knocking your door, just think back to the last time they spoke to you.
