THE BBC have floated the suggestion that over-75s might consider relinquishing their right to a free TV licence and instead make a voluntary payment.

I’ve a better idea.

Let’s cut the salaries of those on their payroll who are being paid in excess of £100k a year by 10 per cent and do away with the excess baggage of football pundits and over-staffed departments.

That would save a fortune in comparison.
