MANY people, including myself, own a bag for life but often get take up the opportunity to obtain an ordinary plastic bag just for the sole purpose of rubbish disposal. The only other option is to buy regularly purchase large bin-bags, which must be even worse for the environment.
So I have come up with this new household tip (excuse the pun) – with what free plastic bags one still has, instead of tying it off prior to disposal, keep it untied and simply dispose of the contents, hence retaining the now expensive plastic bag for future daily use. When those bags finally break down, purchase another for 5p and try to make it last even longer.
Still a lot cheaper and environment-friendly than heavy, costly bin-bags.
Messy, unwanted food can either be thrown down the toilet or disposed similar to doggy poo-bags in empty supermarket packaging like bumper crisp packets etc. Or just wash out the bag after dumping unwanted food-stuffs in the wheelie-bin.
