IF anyone reads into the independent Environmental Assessments for Navitus I think they would be astonished at the gulf between the report findings and the claims of Cllr Beesley and other opponents over the past year.

Interviewing 1,500 tourists over six months, report findings make it clear the presence of the operational wind farm is “unlikely to have a major bearing on whether or not visitors decide to visit the area again”.

The general gist visitors are generally indifferent. Not bothered by turbines far out at sea.

The conclusion of the reports : “It is unlikely that the Project would produce major effects on the tourism sector as a whole” The impact is considered to be minor and the level of significance “not significant”.

Yet from these reports Cllr Beesley has taken and amplified, out of all context, minor aspects to generate predictions of loss of “5,000 jobs”, “6 million tourists”, and “£6 billion revenue”.

Those claims are then in my view a considerable misrepresentation of the survey results, as stated in these reports.

There is no evidence what-so-ever as claimed by Cllr Beesley that any resort or any analysis shows or indicates there would be such huge negative impacts on our towns, if any at all.

For anyone in any doubts on this matter I highly recommend reading the tourism section of the impact assessments, the links from Navitus website.
