I HAVE been following the Navitus Bay wind farm debate with some interest over recent months and listening to various claims and counter-claims.

I have been particularly concerned about the alarm at the impact these turbines might have on tourism in the area.

In order to try to establish to facts I thought it would be useful to contact tourism official in Skegness, where wind turbines have been operating off the coast for some years now (considerably closer to shore than the proposed Navitus development).

The reply I received from East Lindsey District Council included the following: “The Lynn and Inner Dowsing Wind Farms have been operational off the Lincolnshire Coast for a number of years. They are operated by Centrica. The District Council hasn’t any evidence to suggest there has been a negative impact as a result of their installation...”

I would suggest, that Navitus Bay objectors can relax, safe in the knowledge that their business interests are not under threat.
